Some Records Broken By Real Madrid CF

Real Madrid has sure broken many records in recent times in Europe, they have made sure to live up to the expectations of their fans and keep on making history. This season they reaffirmed their status as the best club in history as they battled through an unsuccessful campaign in La Liga but with one leg already in the 2017/2018 season UCL final, their series of achievements can’t just be hidden under a shelf.

Let’s look back at some of their records coming into the 2017/18 Champions League campaign. Real Madrid have lifted UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, LaLiga and Champions League, in that order. It has been 115 odd years since the club have attained such feat. And you will agree with me that lifting four trophies in one campaign is no mean feat Yanga Bet.

Real Madrid also won a back to back Champions League match, an achievement they are looking to match in this year’s campaign with one foot on the door following their win to Bayern at the Allianz Arena a fortnight ago.  This is also the first time the club won the champions league back to back in recent times after the club managed it in 1956/57 and 1957/58.

Between April 2016 and January 2017, almost a dejavu of Arsenal’s 2003–04 season managed by Arsène Wenger in which they eventually went to clinch the EPL tittle. Real Madrid’s was quite unique in that, out of 65 games played, they found the back of the net 61 times, reaking the record formerly set by Bayern Munchen.

In the Round 16 of 2017/2018 Champions league against Paris St-Germain of France, Real Madrid ended the former’s unbeaten run in 51 games at home in all competitions beating them by 2goals to 1 in the second leg of their clash after trashing them  3-1 in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu.

The quarter final clash saw Real Madrid edge out Juventus on 4-3 goals aggregate and also terminated their Unbeaten record in the 1st Leg at home in European competitions since 1962.

Facing FC Bayern Munchen in the semi-final of the running 2017/2018 UEFA Champions League happened to be the sequel after defeating Juventus. The first leg played at the Allianz Arena in Munich on the 25th April, 2018 which ended 2-1 in favour of Real Madrid saw Bayern’s unbeaten record in 21 home games this season in all competitions broken!
