NPFL: Plateau United Pip Rangers, Back On Top; Lobi, Sunshine Win

By Adeboye Amosu: Champions Plateau United secured top position in the Nigeria Professional Football League following a 1-0 win against Enugu Rangers in their rescheduled match day nine fixture at the New Jos Stadium on Wednesday.

Former U-23 Eagles defender Chizoba Amaefule scored the decisive goal 13 minutes before the end of the game.

The Jos club who previously occupied sixth position in the table now sit at the top of the log with 18 points.

Kennedy Boboye’s men are also yet to concede a goal at home in the NPFL this season.

Akwa United missed the chance to secure top position after going down to a 1-0 defeat against Lobi Stars at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.

Former MFM striker Austine Ogunye scored the winning goal 12 minutes before the break.

Lobi Stars jumped from eighth to third in the table following the win.

In Akure, Sunshine Stars boosted their survival hopes after edging out MFM FC 2-1 in a keenly contested game.

Sikiru Alimi put the home team ahead in the ninth minute, while Nojeem Akinyemi equalised for the Olukoya Boys six minutes after the break.

Tayo Adebogun scored the winner from a free-kick in the 78th minute.
