Yusuf: Don’t Rule Out Home Eagles Stars From World Cup Squad

By Bamidele Boluwaji: Home Eagles head coach Salisu Yusuf says Nigerians should not rule domestic league players out of the team that will play Poland and Serbia in the two international friendly games listed for next month, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Many Nigerians have criticised the home-based players following their defeat in the final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) held in Morocco recently but the Super Eagles assistant coach believes there are talents in the domestic league that can make the squad to the Russia 2018 World Cup.

“Well, I don’t want to believe that we don’t have players in the domestic league that can make the team that will play Poland and Serbia and even make the World Cup squad,” the former Enyimba coach told CSN.

“Because Gernot Rohr believes in the talents we have; that is why you see him coming to watch our league players and I want to believe he has seen so much in them and ready to encourage them as well.”

Nigeria will play both Serbia and Poland as part of the build-up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup holding in Russia in June.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation are expected to release the list of players that will play the two international friendly games on March 7.
