Unlucky Crystal Palace End Man City Winning Streak

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were denied a chance to equal Bayern Munich’s record for the most consecutive wins in Europe after they were held to a 0-0 Premier League draw by Crystal Palace on Sunday at Selhurst Park.

The draw ends Manchester winning streak of 18 games and it was the second time this season that Manchester City are dropping points in the Premier League this season. Bayern won 19 straight Bundesliga games also under Guardiola.

Luka Milivojevic missed a 92nd-minute penalty after Wilfred Zaha went down easily under a challenge from Raheem Sterling in the box.

Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane all had chances to win it for City, while Andros Townsend, Christian Benteke and Zaha all missed a chances to hand Crystal Palace a memorable win on the final day of the year.

Manchester City are now 14 points ahead of second-placed Chelsea.

Crystal Palace’s first opportunity of the match came when Christian Benteke’s goal-bound strike was blocked by Eliaquim Mangala after Ederson’s poor clearance.

Patrick Van Aanholt also forced a smart save from Ederson moments later as the home side continued to press.

Manchester City came close to getting the opener when James Tomkins almost turned into his own net Sergio Aguero’s shot from the egd of the box.
In the second half both teams failed to take advantage of the chances they created as the game ended goalless.

City playmaker Kevin De Bryune was stretchered off late in the game after a horrendous Jason Luncheon challenge. Gabriel Jesus also went off injured earlier.
