Reports from London are claiming that Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal to stay at the club until 2021. The BBC reported on Wednesday that the German, 29, becomes the highest-paid player in the club’s history, earning about £350,000 a week before tax. Ozil had been linked with an Arsenal exit at the end of the season when his previous contract was due to expire, but he has now had a turnaround and decided to stay at the Emirates until he is 32. He joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013 for a then club record £42.4m and has been one of the Premier League club’s top performers since. An eight month old baby girl has been raped in India’s capital, New Delhi , allegedly by her 28-year-old cousin while her parents were out working. The rape has provoked angry reactions from activists who are pressing for long-pending police accountability to aid in the fight against sexual violence in the country. The mother found her child bleeding upon returning from work in the evening.
